Greetings! My name is Chandler Rankin, and I am a rising 5th year at UC, double majoring in Economics and Political Science. I grew up in Columbus, OH, and coming to UC has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. In addition to UHP, I'm also a member of the Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program and Kolodzik Business Scholars. My involvement on campus has spanned several organizations – most significantly Undergraduate Student Government, the United Black Student Association, and the Student Alumni Council. I most recently served as Student Body President for the 2019-2020 school year!
My professional work experience has consisted of internships in different commercial business roles at PNC in Columbus, Southwest Airlines in Dallas, and two rotations at Facebook in Austin and Chicago. Last summer I slightly shifted my focus by participating in the TRIALS pre-law intensive program hosted by Harvard Law School and NYU School of Law to further pursue my interest in attending law school at some point after graduation. This five-week program provided rigourous LSAT prep, law school admissions workshops, lectures from leading legal professors and scholars, and days in the field with legal professionals. Some other things to know about me would be that I am the oldest of four children and a dog (all of our names start with "C"), and I really enjoy watching college basketball and football. For my career, I would eventually like to work at the intersection of business, public policy, and law. I think that I bring a unique sense of passion and leadership to the things that I work on, and I love to work with others and drive results towards impactful goals. Being the oldest of four children definitely serves as the foundation of my leadership style. While I wasn't fond of the responsibility of being the oldest sibling when I was young, I have grown to love and embrace it more than anything else. Through UHP, I've been able to reflect on many opportunities for personal growth and take a lot of time to piece together the significance that these things have in my life. Although my diverse set of experiences may be unconventional for the path I want to take, I am confident that everything will come together and allow me to be dynamic in my career. My biggest strengths are that I am thorough, effective, and love to connect with others. I look forward to building upon these strengths and also improving in other areas through honors experiences –most importantly continually reflecting on these things to understand the bigger picture – and how they will equip me to be successful on my journey. I am blessed and grateful for everything that has come my way, and I hope to keep working on becoming a more impactful, inclusive, and knowledgeable person in my time at UC! |
