GATEWAY TO UHP COURSE.
The Gateway to University Honors course has challenged my way of thinking, caused me to reflect on a lot of things, and given me tangible lessons to keep in mind as I navigate my way through the program. The overall objective of the course has been to equip transitions honors students with the resources and information to be successful in UHP and also graduate our way of thinking about experiences and the role they have in the big picture. The course has done this through reflection, discussions, activities, and reading/viewing the works of some of society's great leaders. The most important lesson that I will take from matriculating through this course is that growth won't and shouldn't always be comfortable. The leadership journey is one that will require us to do things we aren't comfortable with, and this is what sets apart those who make the greatest impact on others. As I continue to seek growth in the rest of my time at UC and beyond, this is something that I will have to refer back to. Good is the enemy of great, and there is no room for complacency on the journey to greatness. This course allows you to revisit your greatest passions and inspires you to stay hungry and humble.

Five Values Activity
My top five values from the activity were Religion, Passion, Relationships, Knowledge, and Humility. This activity was challenging for me because I like to be a well-balanced person and value a lot of different traits. I would say that all of the values are something that I have admired in another person before. When I look at the five I chose, I can also see how they align with my strengths and my upbringing as a child, teenager, and young adult. These values derive from some of the experiences that I've had and lessons that I have picked up along the way. While my five looks different than the next person's, there is not set of five that is the perfect group. My five is uniquely me and that makes it legitimate in my life–the same goes for others. Using these values to guide me and make the best decisions for my life will allow me to grow tremendously, especially as I continue to seek opportunities for personal, leadership and professional development.
